Kakuzu was a rogue ninja from the Takigakure, the village Hidden by a Waterfall. Originally, he was charged with the task of assassinating Hashirama the first Hokage but failed. With the news he brought back to his village, he was shamed as useless and punished. Hurt in his feelings Kakuzu decided to flee Takigakure to later enter the organization of Akatsuki. Kakuzu was known to tear out the heart of his victims to expand his life on earth, no wonder he was paired with Hidan, another immortal!
